Candy Bars & Community

By September each year, the questions start: “When will the candy bars be back?” For many years, starting around November, we’ve sold candy bars in our lobby. Our members love them and for a buck, they get a delicious candy bar, but the money we collect from the sale of each bar goes back into our community.

This year, we used a portion of that money to buy Christmas presents for children whose families are struggling. With a list provided by the Goodman Community Center, Madison Credit Union staff spent a couple of hours shopping for the gifts that would promise those children a merry and bright Christmas!

The proceeds that remained were donated to the Luke House on Ingersoll Street. The Luke House is a community meal program that serves lunch and dinner to area residents in need. Volunteers prepare and serve the meal, but also sit down and share the meal with those who come to eat.
This year, with your generosity, we also contributed money to Shop with A Cop and Second Harvest Food Bank. We hope you enjoy the candy bars! We hope you are happy to know your candy bar habit helps others! Buy more MCU candy bars! Thank you for your generosity!
