Getting to Know Oliver Silva
Madison Credit Union has a new face in the loan department. We are proud to introduce our newest Loan Officer, Oliver “Ollie” Silva. We sat down with Ollie and asked him a few serious and silly questions to help you get to know him better.
What do you do at MCU?
Whatever I am asked to do, but mostly loans.
What is your background? Where have you worked before?
Born and raised in Madison, WI. I have a B.A. from Lawrence University in psychology, as well as a B.S. in business and an M.B.A. from Edgewood College. My financial services experience began in 1998 working for First Federal bank. In 2003, I ‘found the light’ and joined the credit union movement. Prior credit union experience includes UW Credit Union and Summit CU.
Why did you want to work at MCU?
I loved that Madison CU was small enough to care. Helping people that need help is a big reason I got into lending in the first place.
Plus, I like being the underdog that beats the odds. Madison CU has so much potential to grow and to help more people. Our staff is super positive and dedicated to helping those in need get ahead. It helps us offer a uniquely personal member experience for each of our members.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Cook, bake, make people laugh, online gaming, magic, and writing. [We can attest firsthand to his excellent cookie baking skills!]
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Time
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
What languages do you speak?
English and Spanish
What is your most used emoji?
What’s an emoji?
If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
For sure a duckbilled platypus – no one can figure them out.
The zombie apocalypse is coming, what three people do you want on your team?
A veterinarian, Dracula and George Carlin.
Okay, I could understand George Carlin, humor in the face of disaster, but why the veterinarian and the zombie?
Miraculously, veterinarians don’t ever seem to get bitten and Dracula’s already dead so he’s cool.

Next time you’re in, pop upstairs and say ‘hi’. Ollie is excited to be a part of the MCU team and looks forward to working with our wonderful members.
