Board of Director Elections – Four Candidates, Two Open Seats

Robin Piper
Member Since 1979

Notable Experience: Current Madison Credit Union Board Chairman, Retired Chief Administrative Officer for the Water Utility

“I have been an MCU member for 45 years, since I started at the city. Before retiring, I was the Chief Administrative Officer for the Water Utility. Having served five terms on the MCU board, I would love the opportunity to continue serving MCU and its members. I want to help meet the current needs and shape the future direction to help MCU continue to be a great financial institution and resource for the city and its employees.”

Gretchen Patey
Member Since 1982

Notable Experience: Retired Director of Housing for the City of Madison and current volunteer at the Overture Center and the Monona Terrace.

“I’ve been a member of the Credit Union since I was hired by the City in June of 1982. I’d like to understand more about its policies and perhaps have some influence in them. I feel welcomed and comfortable there, as the staff frequently greets me by name. I have called from out of state with issues and the staff has always helped me find a solution and helped me with it. The Credit Union has benefited me, and I’d like to be of some benefit to it. I enjoy volunteer activities that benefit the community.”

Shane Baker
Member Since 2001

Notable Experience: A deeply technical background with proficiency in office packages and operating systems, and other business-related functions. including President of EAA Chapter 93, Technical Account Manager at Red Hat.

“I first became a member of Madison Credit Union when my dad co-signed my very first auto loan.  Ever since then I have worked almost exclusively with MCU for all my financial needs.

I appreciate the relationship I have built with the entire team, and I enjoy not being just a number. The attention I receive when I walk through the doors is second-to-none. MCU truly is big enough to serve and small enough to care!

I feel that my breadth of experience leading other non-profit boards and professional work experience, collaborative nature, skillset, and long history as a member of MCU make me an excellent candidate for the opportunity to help set the trajectory of this organization.

I would be proud to hold a director role for MCU and would represent the best interests of our credit union to the absolute best of my ability.”

Susan Caldwell
Member Since 2015

Notable Experience: Current General Counsel at Madison National Life Insurance Company, Inc., Board member of Alzheimer’s Association, Board member of Wisconsin Youth Company, Member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Member of the Dane County Bar, Deputy Counsel at WPS.

“I was born, raised and educated in Madison and have always had an interest in giving back to that community. During the course of my business career, I served on two non-profit boards and enjoyed the experience. Now that I am retiring at the end of 2024, I hope to have the opportunity to sit on the Madison Credit Union Board and again have a chance to give back to the Madison community. I believe that with my 44 years of corporate business experience and my legal education, I can be an asset to the Board and am looking forward to that opportunity if I am voted in.”
